You probably already know what to expect at a Zumba class, an amazing playlist of Latin and world rhythms, easy and fun choreography with little verbal cueing, a great atmosphere and fitness in disguise.

What can you expect from my Zumba & Toning class at Risinghurst Community Centre, Oxford?

The class follows the same party principles of the original Zumba but with a little added resistance to help tone and sculpt the body. The class is an interval-based class, easy to follow using the original Zumba choreography and toning choreography using small handheld weights. This is not a typical body conditioning class. I use verbal cueing to ensure that participants have the correct form and technique.

The class starts with easy step touch style and merengue marches to increase blood flow to muscles to prepare the body for the cardio sections. The toning sections keep the heart rate raised so you are burning calories throughout. Also, a toned muscle will increase metabolism and continue to burn more calories even when at rest.

The warmup section is approx. 8-10 mins, cardio/toning section 40 mins, then we have floor section to concentrate on core and abdominal work and another muscle group.

After we finish with a slower paced cool down to stretch all the muscles worked to avoid any soreness.

Come along and try it out, there is an amazing friendly group of ladies of all ages and abilities.

Zumba Gold & Circl Mobility (30 min & 30 mins)

This class has 2 sections, participants can choose by taking both classes for a complete workout or one or the other.

Zumba Gold (30 min workout) is a lower-intensity version of the typical Zumba class and is designed to meet the anatomical, physiological and psychological needs of seniors. Zumba Gold provides a suitable option for older adults or less mobile seeking alternative means of reaching their exercise goals

CIRCL Mobility™ (30 min workout)

Based on the science of functional movement, focuses on flexibility, breathwork and mobility exercises.

  • Releases and reduces stiffness and tension

  • Restores and helps speed up recovery while improving balance and focus

  • Renews and stimulates the body’s nervous system to enhance muscle activation and circulation
